Shelf in solid sapele mahogany

Elegant and robust shelf in solid, untreated sapele mahogany, cut precisely to your exact measurements.

The shelves are constructed as laminated wood panels with stave-glued, finger-jointed lamellas. Each lamella has a fixed width of 42 mm, giving you a high-quality piece of craftsmanship in sapele mahogany – known for its deep colour, elegant grain pattern and impressive durability.

The selected edges in the sketch are neatly sanded with a slight chamfer, making them pleasant to the touch and giving a refined finish. Non-selected edges are left unsanded, and the edge will be sharp.

Thickness: 30 mm.

Wood type: Sapele mahogany.
Sapele is a medium-hard and stable wood species with good wear resistance and durability. It features a warm, deep reddish-brown colour and a distinctive, elegant grain structure with natural variation, which may appear lightly striped or wavy depending on the cutting direction. Over time, the colour becomes darker and more uniform. Sapele mahogany is well suited for interior fittings where a darker wood with warmth and character is desired.

The shelf calculator automatically takes into account how many shelf brackets should be used depending on the shelf thickness. The thicker the shelf, the fewer brackets are required. The recommended number of shelf brackets is for guidance only – if the shelf is intended to carry a heavy load, additional support may be necessary. Furthermore, the condition of the wall is also crucial in determining how much weight the shelf can bear.

Ensure that the shelf is adequately supported. The required level of support depends on the thickness and size of the shelf, as well as the load it is subjected to. If the shelf begins to bend, additional support is required.

Cleaning and maintenance

The wooden shelf must be surface-treated upon delivery (e.g. with oil or lacquer) to protect it against dirt, sunlight and wear. This is quick and easy to do and significantly extends the shelf’s lifespan.

Cleaning is easily done with a cloth and warm water. Please note that soap-based cleaning products gradually remove the oil from the wood, causing the wooden shelf to dry out. It may therefore be a good idea to regularly maintain the wooden shelf with oil if the surface is used and cleaned frequently.

Solid wood can be sanded and refreshed again and again. Small damages and scratches? Remove them easily – a light sanding and a bit of oil, and the shelf board looks as good as new.

Note: The wooden shelves are not suitable for outdoor use.
