What is a wooden acoustic panel?

A wooden acoustic panel is a panel designed to improve the sound conditions in a room. The panels are constructed with wooden slats mounted on a sound-absorbing felt backing. This combination is highly effective at reducing echo and absorbing noise, resulting in a more comfortable room acoustics. Our panels are designed to function as practical cladding for both walls and ceilings.

Improved room acoustics and sound reduction

The primary function of acoustic panels is to control sound within a room. In modern interiors with many hard surfaces such as plasterboard, glass and concrete, sound can easily reflect and create an unpleasant echo. The felt backing on the rear of the panel absorbs the sound waves, while the wooden slats break them up. This significantly reduces reverberation time, making conversations easier and creating a generally calmer sound environment.

Installation and applications

Acoustic panels can be installed on most surfaces, including both walls and ceilings. They can cover an entire surface or be used to create zones in larger rooms, for example above the dining table or in a cosy corner. Installation is straightforward, as the panels can be screwed directly to the wall through the felt backing. For an optimised sound-dampening effect, the panels can be mounted on a timber frame, creating a cavity behind the panel that further improves sound absorption. All panels can easily be cut with a fine-toothed saw to fit specific measurements and cut-outs for electrical sockets.
